Garais Family needs new hope after the typhoon tragedy!
Hi to All Kind Hearts...I am knocking on your hearts and want to ask for your kindness to help the Garais Family to start a new life.
A month ago, the typhoon “Nona” hit Brgy. Sulangan, Sorsogon, in the Bicol Region. As many Filipinos know, this area is always hit by typhoons year-round , and many are left devastated by these calamities. One of them is the family of Nestor and Carmen Garais, both in their 50's. The couple has 7 children, 4 of whom are living near the couple’s house, and are also victims of the typhoon Nona. Nestor Garais has no job because he has been sick with diabetes and arthritis for more than 20 years now, while his wife Carmen Garais who’s also sick with heart failure, varicose vein problems, and high blood pressure. Because of these ailments, she almost became blind. She has worked as a house helper for almost 20 years, earning only PHP 3000 (US$62) - which is really not enough for their living and medical expenses. Both Nestor and Carmen need lifetime medication and none of their children can help for their needs as they also have their own families with no stable jobs, and earning less than what their living expenses require. Because of Typhoon "Nona," their home was totally wrecked, and nothing was left. After what happened, they built a very tiny house (see picture above) using patched woods just to have shelter. After the typhoon "Nona" passed, Carmen went home to Brgy. Sulangan(because she’s working as a maid in Manila – 13hrs land travel to her home) to try and fix the situation and to be with her husband (Nestor Garais) who was sick at that time and was confined at a hospital in Sorsogon since Wednesday, January 20, due to high blood pressure. He was later discharged on Jan. 25 and still needs your help for his medicines, check-up and food.
Here’s the breakdown of the amount:
Building the house: $1000
Small business: $250
Food & Medicines: $250
I am doing this fundraising campaign to help them build a better house that at least could not be easily destroyed by a typhoon compared to the one you can see above, and to help them start a small business as a source of income daily like small sari-sari store (grocery store), raise 1 or 2 pigs, purchase a sewing machine - since Carmen knows how to make garments; buy medicine & food supplies and the couple's monthly health needs. I know they are feeling hopeless these days.
I will be updating this campaign anytime and will upload a picture of the couple once they get a chance as they don’t have the technology to provide them immediately.

I understand that some of you may be doubtful about this campaign or may think it’s a scam and may just ignore this. If you need more info and would want to ask questions or would want to verify the situation feel free to contact me. In as much as I want to give them money, I don’t have enough for their needs, and I want to help them in any way that I can. Any amount will do and it will be of HUGE help for the Garais Family.
